Jason Sudeikis says he's still gaining clarity about his split from Olivia Wilde last year.

In a GQ interview, the Saturday Night Live alum said of their breakup: "I'll have a better understanding of why in a year. And an even better one in two, and an even greater one in five, and it'll go from being, you know, a book of my life to becoming a chapter to a paragraph to a line to a word to a doodle."

Though a source previously told People that the former couple broke up at the beginning of 2020, Sudeikis told GQ that the split happened "in November 2020."

"That's an experience that you either learn from or make excuses about," he said. "You take some responsibility for it, hold yourself accountable for what you do, but then also endeavor to learn something beyond the obvious from it."

Since the breakup, Wilde has been romantically linked to Harry Styles, who stars in her upcoming film Don't Worry Darling, and Sudeikis has been spotted out with model and actress Keeley Hazell, who had a guest role on his show Ted Lasso.

Earlier this year, Sudeikis won a Critic's Choice Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series, and took the opportunity to thank Wilde as well as their two children, Otis and Daisy.

"I want to thank my kids, Otis and Daisy," he said. "I want to thank their mom Olivia, who had the initial idea to do this as a TV show, saying, 'You and Brendan [Hunt] and Joe [Kelly] like doing that so much, you should do it as a movie or TV show' ... She was right."

Wilde responded on Twitter, adding a joke about the now-viral hoodie he wore to the Golden Globes.

"Congrats to Jason and the entire Ted Lasso family on your @CriticsChoice wins!" she wrote. "So happy for you guys. I hope this means we all keep wearing hoodies when the ceremonies are in person next year."
